Friend,

I'm reaching out with my bi-weekly update to keep you in the loop on our major projects and news. Thanks for taking a moment to read it! Through these initiatives and others, my team and I are working to ensure Chattanooga is a wonderful place to call home.

As always, if you have questions, input, or if I can be of any assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact me at mayor@chattanooga.gov.

Sincerely,

    What's New in Chattanooga

Great cities are defined by great parks. That's why I'm thrilled that City Council unanimously passed our new Parks and Outdoors Plan (POP), Chattanooga's first comprehensive parks plan in 25 years. The POP ensures that the "Scenic City" lives up to its title for decades to come.

    Coolidge Park
    Lake Resort Drive

Lake Resort Drive is undergoing a major overhaul. This vital Hixson corridor serves nearly 10,000 vehicles every day and has seen its fair share of repairs over the years. The street is prone to landslips, which can be dangerous and unpredictable. While several attempts have been made to stabilize the roadway, nothing has shown to be a permanent solution — until now. Learn about the Lake Resort Bridge construction project here, and please be patient as crews work on this critical project!

No Smoke Sundays are back! Middle and high school aged kids are invited out for free games, food, and music at Miller Park, every Sunday night in July from 6-8 p.m. Let's engage our city's youth, while giving them a safe place to gather over summer break!

    Goats

Goats trimmed baaaaaa-ck invasive plants on Stringer's Ridge. Our Department of Parks and Outdoors enlisted the help of several goats to cut back kudzu and other invasive species at Stringers Ridge Park.

Why goats? They're cheaper, more energy efficient, and safer than controlled burns or hedge trimmers. Plus they can get to the hard-to-reach areas that machines can't!

    In the Community

Summer camp is in full swing! A group of summer camp participants from Tyner Community Center recently took a field trip to City Hall, and I had the opportunity to meet several bright young Chattanoogans!

    6.30 local 3 interview

I recently sat down with Cindy Sexton of Local 3 News for my monthly interview. We talked about the future of Chattanooga's great outdoors, our One Chattanooga Plan, and more. Check our discussion here.

I am always glad when I get the opportunity to go visit the heroes at our fire stations! I recently stopped by Station 6 on Bonny Oaks, which is also housing Engine 15 while their new station is being built.
