Thanks for taking a moment to read this brief update. As your mayor, I’m committed to leading a local government that’s effective, responsive, and transparent – so I just want to take a minute to highlight some of the things my team and I have been working on to make sure Chattanooga continues to be a great place to call home.
As always, if you have questions, input, or if I can be of any assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact me at mayor@chattanooga.gov.
Sincerely,
Tim Kelly
Mayor, City of Chattanooga
What's New in Chattanooga
City Council unanimously approved my administration's third budget, advancing our One Chattanooga priorities and continuing our investments in the things that are most important to Chattanoogans – without increasing taxes. The new budget – which covers July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024 – is available for the public to view here.
Together with Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise (CNE), we launched a new first-time home buyer grant and loan program! The new program offers 0% interest loans and small grants to help Chattanoogans who qualify buy a home. Head to CNE's website to learn more, or call 423-756-6201.
Chattanooga has unveiled our first Parks and Outdoors Plan in 25 years. This plan will guide us as we create a Chattanooga where all residents and guests have access to a system of quality parks, greenways, and recreational facilities that are designed, built, and maintained with intention. Check it out!
Join the ranks of our dedicated officers! The Police Academy offers a thrilling opportunity to make a difference in Chattanooga. With over 29 distinct bureaus – from investigations and intelligence to SWAT – there's opportunity for every interest. Apply here.
Mayor's Youth Council applications close July 1!If you know a rising highschool junior or senior who is passionate about leadership and service, encourage them to apply at cha.city/myc
In the Community
I had the honor this month of joining the Juneteenth Parade, Celebration, and Film Festival to celebrate Chattanooga’s rich Black history! Juneteenth represents freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equality and justice, and I'm proud to be Mayor of a city that leads with these values. Thanks to all who came out and helped make these celebrations special!
Each Summer, Chattanooga Football Club teams up with Volkswagen for a youth soccer clinic. Soccer is a game that connects and engages the entire world – and can serve as an excellent way to get active, no matter your age. I always enjoy visiting the clinic and encouraging our community's children to stick with an activity they love, whether that's soccer or simply getting outside to play!
Earlier this month, I sat down with Chattanooga Civics to reflect on my second year in office and discuss what's next for my administration. Check it out!
Upcoming Opportunities
Take a shelter dog out for a day with McKamey Animal Shelter's Trailblazers Program! Being a Trailblazer with MAC is kind of like having a library card, but instead of checking books, you're "checking out" a shelter dog for the day. Learn more and sign up here!
Volunteer to plant gardens, beautify parks, and manage trails with our Parks and Outdoors Department! Our park stewards are essential to our mission of giving every Chattanoogan access to high-quality outdoor spaces. Apply to volunteer with us!
