If we just look at this past weekend, our Park and Outdoors Teams did some amazing things! -Our first Park Sparks this past Sunday welcomed around 100 neighbors to Tatum Park for music, games and engagement in the best place possible, the local park. This was our kickoff to the season with dozens more coming.
-Members of our Parks and Natural Resources team attended the Wild Ones Native Symposium at UTC and wore Hawaiian shirts..cause why not?
-Our Therapeutic team held a hike for all abilities at Greenway Farm, in the 30s! -Jefferson Heights neighbors joined us for TN Tree day to help spread mulch and learn more about the lightning protection installed on one of Chattanooga's older trees.
-Outdoor Chattanooga held their first free "Learn to Skateboard" class on Saturday
-Backlight pickleball at Wyatt was a success, completely booked Fri-Sun. (More coming soon).
-Park crews have been working hard planting, cleaning and more for Spring -And lots of dirt moving at Warner Park as new turf is being installed for the upcoming softball/baseball season!

Celebrating Women's History Month In Our Spaces
Dr. Virginia Harris-Johnson
For the month of March, we continue to focus on parks named for prominent women in Chattanooga as our department celebrates #WomensHistoryMonth. This week's #ParkTuesday features Harris-Johnson Park, located at 41 West 28th St.
Dr. Virginia Harris-Johnson was an educator with Howard High School for 15 years starting in the 1960s. While a teacher at Margaret Mitchell Elementary School in Atlanta, Dr. Harris-Johnson earned her Doctorate Degree in December of 1985. She remained a teacher until 1999 in Atlanta.
Dr. Harris-Johnson also held numerous memberships, while working with several volunteer organizations, and clubs in Chattanooga, Atlanta and Nationally.
This beautiful park features a new playground, walking trail, pavilion, grills, and wide open areas for play.
2 New FREE Programs at the Chattanooga Fitness Center.
Starting THIS week, the Chattanooga Fitness Center (at Warner Park) will offer women's weightlifting Tues/Thur
from 10:30-11:30am for all levels. Power yoga returns both inside and outside at times on Wednesdays from 5-6pm. Programs and entrance to the fitness center is always FREE and no contracts. For hours and more info, click below.

Tatum park this past weekend was FANTASTIC. This week our Park Sparks crew is joining two neighborhood lead events (the exact goal of Park Sparks!) Friday, we will celebrate the brand new playground at Watkins Street Park with the Ridgedale neighborhood. Come out for games, celebration and more!
Then on Saturday, March 25th, join in the celebration of Carver Park with the More than Just a Girl event as we continue to celebrate Women's History Month. Both events are FREE. Held at Southern Adventist University’s Hulsey Wellness Center indoor pool once a month on select Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. The first session you attend is free with all equipment and instruction provided!To continue with the program after the first free session, become a Rapid Learning Member, which gives you access to all the skills classes and use of our equipment during classes and river trips, plus discounts on instructional river trips for an entire year! Cost: $75 for individual membership, $125 for a family membership.
Spring Adult Softball League Sign Ups, Played at Summit of Softball Complex.
12 Game season, plus tournament! Men's, Women's, Co-ed, Industrial, Church and Open leagues can sign up. We would LOVE to see more women's teams participate this year. #MarchMadness is here and as we get closer to the final 4, how about a little 3-3 for our youth! Check it out. April 1-2nd at the Chris Ramsey Center, our Recreation Team is putting on a 3-3 tournament for our teens. Looking for age groups from 13-18. Boys and girls teams. Plus before the games kick off, we will have a DJ, refreshments, dance performances and more. Once we know the number of teams, we will set a start time.
